Day 18- Plans/dreams/goals you have
During the hours of 9 to 5, she daydreams about coming home. It’s not because she has someone waiting for her there; there is no boyfriend, no family, not even a dog. Usually she just wants to get in a workout, strum her guitar, or work on something art-related. And all these distractions, they’re not a product of hating her day job. Instead, it’s simply the desire to feel healthy – physically, mentally, and emotionally.
But night after night, she gets home and spends her time watching TV or socializing with friends. The energy spent at that office makes her feel mentally spent. Even though she feels like she’s brimming with exciting, creative ideas, the office isn’t any place for it. The work itself isn’t mentally strenuous; rather, it’s holding the reins on her wandering mind that tires her out. Silly rabbit.
Putting together any sort of art requires a fair amount of energy, more so than a typical day at the office, because it requires a careful marriage of creativity and emotion. Sometimes it feels like she’s trying to succeed at two jobs: what one pays dollars, the other pays in contentment. On occasion, it becomes difficult to choose which is more important.
She’s not sure if she’s good at the art stuff, but she’s too scared to find out. One of these days, perhaps she’ll gather the courage to find out. Or she might just spend the rest of her life in an Initech kind of life.
