I thought last week was Week 3, but apparently my calendar’s just 1 week ahead… THIS is Week 3 *phew!*… Here’s a quick recap:
The Good
Lots of exciting stuff in the works this week. First, I got my first donations this week… very exciting! As Lori warned me, I was surprised at the generosity people show for the cause! This week, I received $560 in donations! Thank you so much to my awesome donors! To check on my latest progress, check out my personal TNT page!
My new running gear has me feelin’ pretty good! The lack of pain makes me even more excited for reaching beyond my comfort zone at practice Sunday! The new Mizunos feel great and I’ve been icing my knees every night to keep any inflammation to a minimum. Also, I’ve been eating tons of fish and flaxseed oil to ensure I’m getting tons of omega-3 fats (which my pharmacist aunt told me should help reduce inflammation as well)… from here on out, sushi happy hour galore!
Gotta say my appetite’s been outta control lately though… and I’m not even running high mileage weeks yet! I’m only around 15 miles/week, and my appetite feels like that of someone who’s running easily double that! Gonna have to keep an eye on that… starting next week (I’ve got an appointment with Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles tomorrow!).
The Bad
After having sent out my letters early this week, I received word that some people I sent them to were panicking because they could not afford to contribute to LLS. While I’m stressed about raising money, it stresses me more that my donation letter is stressing others out. I know I can make this happen, but I don’t want additional stress being placed on others just because of this challenge I’ve decided to undertake.
Also, even with the overwhelming generosity shown by my few donors thus far, my goal of raising $7,000 for LLS is starting to look daunting. I’m not backing down, but this may be more challenging than I previously believed. There’s time, but yes, I’m stressing. I would like to get my fundraising done so that I can focus on the running itself.
The (Almost) Awesome
I don’t want to jinx it, but let’s just say I may become an international runner very soon… ::fingers crossed:: My plans are still in the works, but I’m working very hard on finalizing them. As soon as things are set, you know they’ll be worth at least a quick blog post!
