Review: Crashbar Improv

Posted on Jun 19, 2009 in Budget-Friendly, Reviews

After our dinner at Sunset Bar and Grill, we headed across Hollywood to the Tre Stage to catch Crashbar Improv, a guaranteed laugh! In fact, when I think of some of the sketches, it makes me want to laugh aloud, more than 24 hours after the show!parking

While looking for parking (which is very easy to find in the area), we found a very complicated parking sign (right), which honestly seemed like a joke in itself. It seriously took me more than just a few moments to understand all the rules!

Anyways, back to the show! :)

Crashbar happens every Thursday at the unpretentious Tre Stage, a sub-venue of the Next Stage Theatre. The line-up changes weekly, but always includes hilarious stand-up comedians and improv teams. The comedy is typically witty, young, college humor, which could probably be attributed to the fact that this is the demographic many of the performers appeared to fall in. But hey, who’s complaining? While college humor may be abundant at Crashbar, it’s always buttressed by real wit and humor. It’s good!

Crashbar costs $5, plus it’s BYOB and there’s usually beer and water available by donation. Even if it wasn’t in dodgey Hollywood, if you’re looking for a low budget date night and love to laugh, this is one show that should not be missed!

Check out Crashbar Improv (online; follow on Twitter) at 8 p.m., every Thursday at Tre Stage at 1523 N. La Brea (map).
